Interstellar notes

I thought interstellar was an amazing movie and made me rethink the concept of time as a whole. I like how all of the little clues throughout the movie all made sense in the end and was able to come full circle. For our interstellar inspired time travel video we decided to make a video traveling to the past to warn citizens of Earth to take actions and listen to medical professions when the Neuroencephalo virus arises. This broadcast of us will be streamed to citizens technology like iPhone, computers and Tvs. We thought this was an important concept because it explains how stubborn people were with COVID and even if a new deadly virus was to arise tomorrow people still wouldn't listen or follow medical advice which could ultimately lead to half the population being wiped out. This relates to my major wanting to be a health care professional. There is only so much healthcare professionals can do for people when they dont want to listen or take diseases serious...

Vivienne Westwood: Fashion Designer

Vivienne Westwood is an English self-made designer who started her career in London. She partnered with Malcom McLaren and opened up a boutique. This store consisted of graphic t-shirts with provocative slogans and pictures, this completely went against the times with the hippie movement in the 1970s. Malcom and Vivienne kept rebelling with more crazy designs and put their punk rock edge into everything they did. Vivienne Westwood eventually made her own name and separated from Malcom. She continued to produce clothing and accessories that had a punk rock feel to it and became insanely successful. She is now 71 years old and still making an impact. She uses high proportions of sustainable and recycled material in her projects. She is an advocate for climate change and political issues and uses her platform for the great good. I think she is insanely impactful and full of creative out of the box ideas that the world needs to see and hear. Below are some of my favorite pieces.

Ready Player One notes

I really enjoyed the movie, my group decided to use Minecraft to interview a stranger. I asked the stranger what he wears in the game vs what he wear in real life. He said we wears armor in the game and shorts and a t shirt in real life. I thought it was important to ask him what he wears because in Ready Player one, Wyatt wore nice clothes and wore things based on how he wanted to appear to other in the game even if he could not wear these clothes in real life.      The second question I asked was what his hobbies/job was in the game vs real life. He said that his character in the game builds houses and breeds villagers but in real life he works in a car dealership. This is very different and it depends on the game but clearly he does this as a hobby in the game but would not necessarily chose to do it in real life.      This relates to my health science major because I believe video games like this are a source of relaxation and people go on th...

Second life

Second life was launched in 2003 and is a multimedia platform that allows people to enter virtual worlds with their own avatar that they create as well as interact with other users and their content. The designer is Philip Rosedale who founded Linden Lab and reached his dream of creating an internet connect virtual world. After leaving his company he has returned and even mentioned to the public that "No one has come close to building a virtual world like Second Life" due to its positive and enriching experience he gives to people with rooms for millions more to join. His work falls under what we call today the metaverse, he explored digital identities, virtual real estate, economics and ecosystems all virtually. Currently about 40,000 users still play Second Life. Second Life is said to have failed due to its high learning curve and copyright infringements as well as unrealistic expectations. Since the pandemic it has been seen to make a comeback as the original virtual wor...
